Literally nestled in the Rocky Mountains of Southwest Montana, the aptly named
resort community of Big Sky serves up breathtaking life on a silver platter.
You'll never exhaust the local activities, and don't forget about the historic
grandeur and pristine wildlife preserve of Yellowstone National Park only 20
miles away.
Being Montana, the area is naturally associated with winter.
And if you're going to have winter, this is where you want to be. Big Sky, of
course, is a major downhill ski destination. It boasts the "biggest" ski terrain
in North America with the All Mountain ski pass offered through the combined
efforts of Big Sky Resort and Moonlight Resort. These alpine ski resorts attract
beginners, families, and double-black challenge seekers of boarding and skiing
alike with a vast run variety and zero minute lift lines.
If downhill skiing is not your
forte, Big Sky beckons you, as well, with miles of stunning Nordic ski trails,
backcountry snowmobiling, winter fly-fishing, snowshoeing, and much more. You
count the days to winter in Big Sky with great anticipation, not trepidation.
One of the greatest things about Big Sky, not as well known, is the very
real, very warm, and quite extensive summer season. Transition months of
April/May and September/October yield many days at or above 65 degrees. June
through August will bask you in warm, dry comfortable days between 70-80
degrees. You'll be living life in sandals or waders, even if you crave a 5-star
prime rib on the way home. This is Montana, after all.
Summer is jam-packed with outdoor
fun. Clearly the world-renowned fly-fishing tops the list, closely followed by
golfing until 9pm with spectacular vistas spreading before you at turn of the
green. Hiking, white-water rafting, rock climbing, authentic western horseback
trail rides, the list goes on and on. One word warning: the peace, space and
spirit of the glorious mountains, pastures of wildflowers, and relaxed community
life may inspire you to stay here forever!
